Adani Total Gas begins CBG production at Barsana Plant in Uttar Pradesh

Adani Total Energies Biomass Limited (ATBL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited, has initiated operations for phase-1 of the Barsana Biogas Plant situated in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Positioned within the premises of Shri Mataji Gaushala, the plant marks a significant milestone.

According to the official announcement by Adani Gas, the Barsana Biogas Project encompasses three distinct phases and is poised to reach a total capacity of 600 tons per day (TPD) of feedstock. Upon reaching full operational capacity, it will produce over 42 TPD of Compressed BioGas (CBG) and 217 TPD of organic fertilizer.

The overall expenditure for the three phases of the Barsana Biogas plant exceeds Rs 200 crore. This marks a substantial investment in renewable energy infrastructure.

Notably, this facility represents ATBL’s inaugural venture into CBG production. Utilizing state-of-the-art anaerobic digestion technology, the plant efficiently converts organic materials into renewable biogas. This transformative process plays a pivotal role in curbing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing dependency on fossil fuels.

Suresh P Manglani, ED & CEO, ATGL, said “The Barsana Biogas Plant represents our Chairman Shri Gautam Adani’s commitment to fully leverage renewable resources to create a cleaner, more sustainable world for our future generations. In addition to producing Compressed Bio Gas (CBG), the plant yields high-quality organic fertilizer, contributing to circular economy principles and agricultural sustainability. The setting up and initiation of CBG production fully aligns with our promoters’ – Adani Group and TotalEnergies – broader sustainability goals and by investing in renewable energy like CBG.”

Manglani said that Adani Group and TotalEnergies aim to play a pivotal role in the global transition to a low-carbon economy.

Adani Gas mentioned, “Adani Total Gas hits a green milestone! Phase 1 production kicks off at Barsana Biogas Project, processing 225 TPD of agri waste and cattle dung to yield 10 TPD of eco-friendly CBG. A step towards a cleaner, sustainable future!”

“Proud to announce the commissioning of the latest project by Adani_Gas in UP. A state-of-the art biogas plant that converts organic matter into renewable natural gas (CBG) and also produces organic manure. It’s  a testament to our commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Managing Director Pranav Adani.
