Yamuna Expressway Authority (YEIDA) plans to comprehensively manage & recycle its solid waste

As the quest for scientific waste management is gaining pace in the country, Uttar Pradesh wouldn’t afford to be left behind. In a key development, the Yamuna Expressway Authority (YEIDA) is preparing to roll out a comprehensive waste management and plastic recycling program across its sectors.

As per the draft plan, the initiative will see waste disposal stations being erected in every block and there will also be specialized recycling plants will manage plastic and polythene waste.

Under the plan, YEIDA will allocate 20 plots for plastic recycling plants and three land parcels for waste disposal facilities. As per CEO of YEIDA, Dr. Arunvir Singh, a proposal outlining the novel initiative will be presented at the upcoming board meeting of the authority.

Additionally, a dedicated waste plant will be developed for the 350-acre Medical Device Park in Sector 28.

This waste management program is a key part of the vision of YEIDA to transform the area into a Smart City. The region, which will soon include an international film city, airport, and major hospitals, is prioritizing waste management solutions ahead of full settlement.

According to reports, these efforts are crucial for maintaining a clean and sustainable urban environment. YEIDA is also looking \to offer land subsidies and incentives, with applicants potentially receiving up to a 50% subsidy on land for waste management plants.

A few years ago, the Greater Noida Authority too proposed a plan for the complete makeover of the city turning it more sustainable.  Recently the Greater Noida authority decided to rope in experts in departments like health, sports, horticulture and wastewater treatment to give more energy to its functioning.

The state of Uttar Pradesh already has come up with a comprehensive policy on solid waste management in 2022.
