Switcheko launches mobile waste recycling unit in Hyderabad

Switcheko Sustainability has launched its ‘Mobile Sustainability on Wheels’ unit, a first-of-its-kind mobile waste processing vehicle, at the Telangana Pollution Control Board. The initiative aims to bring on-site recycling capabilities directly to communities, institutions and waste collection points.

Switcheko held that the specially designed vehicle can handle a broad spectrum of waste streams, including plastics, cardboard, e-waste, textiles, sanitary waste and food waste. Equipped with an array of integrated machinery, the unit enables rapid sorting, processing and recycling without the need for large stationary facilities.

Key features include a conveyor belt with a 250-kg load capacity and a custom hydraulic baling machine that compresses recyclable materials for easy storage and transport. A compact composting unit converts organic waste into compost within 30–35 days, supporting decentralised waste management.

To manage diverse waste types, the vehicle by Switcheko also carries heavy-duty shredders for plastics, textiles and paper; a sanitary waste incinerator; and a styrofoam lump-making machine capable of melting thermocol waste into reusable material.

Switcheko has powered the entire system is a 15 KVA generator with a 45-litre fuel tank, complemented by a solar panel and battery backup. This hybrid setup allows the unit to function for six to seven days on a single tank during an eight-hour operational shift.

Switcheko says the mobile unit is designed to improve recycling efficiency, reduce the burden on landfills and bring flexible, decentralised waste solutions closer to end-users.

Switcheko claims to be a pioneer startup dedicated to creating sustainable products and promoting sustainable-commerce. The firm develops eco-friendly alternatives using natural materials, empower communities through training and skill development, and lead environmental initiatives like cleanups and recycling drives.
