Longroad Energy Signs Solar Power Agreement with Meta
Longroad Energy, a renewable energy developer, owner, and operator based in the U.S., has finalized a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Meta. The agreement involves the full energy output of Longroad’s 1000 Mile solar project. The solar facility, located in Yoakum County, Texas, has a capacity of 300 MWac.
The energy generated by the 1000 Mile project will be supplied to the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) grid. Meta plans to use this renewable energy to support the operations of its data centers. The initiative is part of Meta’s efforts to meet its operational electricity needs using 100% clean and renewable energy.
Urvi Parekh, Head of Energy at Meta, stated that, “the renewable energy from this project will contribute to the company’s goal of matching its electricity consumption with carbon-free energy.” Paul Gaynor, CEO of Longroad Energy, highlighted that “1000 Mile is the company’s largest solar project so far.” He further stated that, “Longroad and Meta have previously collaborated on renewable energy projects with a total capacity exceeding 1.3 GW.”
The 1000 Mile solar project marks Longroad’s first venture within Texas’s SPP grid footprint. The company has previously developed six other wind and solar projects in Texas. The 1000 Mile project is expected to begin commercial operations in 2026.
Since its establishment in 2016, Longroad Energy has developed or acquired 5.6 GW of renewable energy projects across the U.S. The company has secured $15.2 billion in equity, debt, and tax equity to fund its projects. Longroad currently owns 3.7 GW of wind, solar, and storage projects and manages a total of 5.7 GW of energy assets for itself and third parties. The 1000 Mile project will contribute to renewable energy expansion in the region and support Meta’s transition to sustainable energy.
