Project Chittoor to revolutionise farmers’ income across 600 acres in Andhra Pradesh

A 600-acre integrated rural transformation initiative in Chittoor district is aiming to significantly raise farm incomes, generate diversified rural livelihoods, and position Andhra Pradesh as a national model for sustainable village development.

Backed by the Atria Group, Project Chittoor is designed to increase annual farm income from about Rs 30,000 per acre to over Rs 1 lakh per acre through an integrated ecosystem spanning regenerative agriculture, solar energy generation, digital education, and agro-wellness tourism.

The 600-acre initiative is projected to directly benefit over 250 rural families while delivering a four-to-fivefold increase in per-acre revenue through multiple income streams. By combining vertical food forests, integrated livestock systems, clean energy generation, value-added food processing, and rural tourism, the model transforms each acre into a diversified economic unit rather than a single-crop dependency. In addition to income enhancement, the project will deploy 6 MW of solar capacity across farm clusters, enabling farmers to generate and sell clean energy while reducing irrigation and storage costs.

Beyond economic gains, Project Chittoor is designed to create broader social and environmental impact. The initiative aims to improve groundwater recharge through regenerative farming practices, enhance biodiversity via agroforestry, and build climate resilience through integrated land use. By creating viable rural employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, the project seeks to enable reverse migration of skilled youth and landowners back to their native villages, not out of compulsion, but by choice.

The integrated framework brings together sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, transformative education, and agro-wellness tourism into a single ecosystem. Solar-powered digital classrooms and STEM labs are being designed to equip rural students with future-ready skills, while homestays, Ayurveda retreats, and farm-to-table experiences generate non-farm income without disrupting agricultural activity.

Dr. Sunder Raju, Founder of the Atria Group, said, “If we can demonstrate that a farmer in Chittoor can earn a stable, dignified, middle-class income while living sustainably, we can inspire reverse migration and long-term prosperity. This project is about restoring pride, economic strength, and ecological balance to the villages that shaped us.”

The initiative draws on the Group’s expertise across renewable energy, education, connectivity, hospitality, and philanthropy, including Atria Renewable and Atria Education, enabling structured execution and long-term scalability.

Designed as a replicable blueprint, Project Chittoor has a roadmap to expand to 6,000 acres and eventually 60,000 acres across multiple districts, positioning Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of next-generation rural transformation.
